Super News for a Monday; Also, a Request on Behalf of Three Ladies

Graceling is the winner of the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Children's Literature!

Here is the official announcement of all the 2009 Mythopoeic Awards.

Here is more information about the Mythopoeic Society.

Here is what the award looks like. (Except that mine won't have Neil Gaiman's name on it. ^_^) Isn't it cool?

I'll post a link to my acceptance speech once the Society puts it up on their page. In the meantime... *sniff*... thank you SO MUCH to the Mythopoeic Society for this honor.

Before I go: if you have a thought to spare for three little ladies who mean the world to me -- one of whom has the world's worst backache, on account of being pregnant with the other two, whose combined weight is about 12 pounds and growing -- would you mind sending those thoughts and wishes on a karmic wind to northern Florida? I'm sure that my sister (secret code name: Cordelia) would appreciate it, and I know that I would! Hang in there, babies! Hang in there, Cordelia! Cordelia, you're a hero! ♥

I will absolutely send my best thoughts and wishes to Florida, Cordelia and my fellow soon-to-be twin sisters! One of my closest friends just gave birth to her second child, Hope Christine, this weekend, so I'm in full baby mode!

Congrats on your Mythopoeic award! Terribly exciting!
my drum teachers wife is the tiniest women i know. she gave birth, in december, to a 11 pound baby. so your sister must be going through the same thing. except like double the weight. yay, adorable babies!!!!!

This is wonderful news! Congratulations on your win.

I'm sending good thoughts in Cordelia's general direction, too.
I'll be keeping them in my thoughts...and congrats for your award!

Yours won't have Neil Gaiman's name on it because you beat him! Congratulations!

And congratulations to your sister and the coming twins!

Congrats on your award! I just finished reading Graceling last night and loved it. You definitely deserve this award!

And yay for pregnant ladies and two babies coming. I hope someone is rubbing her back for her!

Congrats, Kristen! You deserve it. That is the coolest looking award I have ever seen.

What awesome news! I'm so thrilled for you. It's utterly deserved. And having had two babies myself (albeit not at the same time!) I send all my pain-free, relaxed thoughts to northern Florida. :)

Congratulations! How exciting! All the awards and an auntie to twins! Tell Miss Cordelia that the back pain will pass - eventually. My friend used to put a tennis ball on the wall when I was pregnant and have me try to move it up and down the wall with my back. It involved knees and little bending over at times but it did help.
Sending lots of positive thoughts her way!

My sister's identical girls arrived a month after my little girl; the cousins are best friends.

Being pregnant at the same time as my sister? Not so much fun. I'm glad you're able to be Supportive Unpregnant Sister.

Ditto on beating Neil Gaiman - I'm not much of an NG fan myself, but I sleep with Graceling and my review of Fire (had to return the ARC) under my pillow.

Well. Sort of.

I would like to point out that Cordelia's husband, code named Joe, could probably use a little positive energy directed his way as well (since he's doing all the cooking, cleaning, back/foot rubbing, 3am hot-water-bottle preparation, etc.)!

Joe, you get a big fat hug, and all the love in the world.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Everyone, send some thoughts and wishes to my outlaw brother-in-law, secret codename: Joe!
Artemis Grey said…
I should have thought of that, seeing as how Hope Christine's daddy, code name - Papa Bear, has been doing the same until this weekend. Best wishes, extra hands to help out, and good luck outlaw brother-in-law Joe!

Congrats on your award!

And sending good thoughts/prayers your sister's way. Twins! She's a mighty woman, indeed.

A big CONGRATS to you! And good thoughts and prayers are on their way to Cordelia!

Thank you, everyone, for your congrats and for sending love on to Cordelia!

Go Cordelia! I think twins are the most precious miracles in the world. Just remember that it's all worth it especially when your children are old enough to express their gratitude! And you'll get double the gratitude. And to make yourself feel better, watch videos with crazy octo-mom.

I just want to say that I finished reading Graceling after checking it out from the library yesterday, and it was amazing! I'm a little sad that I was so over-zealous about reading it only because I have nothing to read now...:)

I'm excited for Fire to come out and you should now consider me a faithful follower on blogger. :3

Just found your blog today as you were kind enough to list my book. Thanks!

My big sister is a twin so I just wanted to say to your Cordelia and Joe--twins are as much work as you think they are going to be, but they are SO much more wonderful than you can possibly imagine! Courage is half the battle. Hang in there. I'm sending happy thoughts your way.

Rosanne, I can't wait to read it, and thanks for visiting my blog!

Thanks everyone for the good wishes to Cordelia. Please keep them up. She is really, really miserable. (The babies, at least, seem to be happy as clams!)
