For me, the way I write changes depending on what is going on in life, and it's nice to know that there are others that have periods of just thinking or devouring books and other periods of writing feverishly. Right now I'm teetering on feverish writing and book devouring (although I am still working for my undergrad, and my writing so far consists of short stories and poetry).Debbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01217078852040245125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4228273369846378320.post-28210211740761076792008-07-16T21:34:00.000-04:002008-07-16T21:34:00.000-04:00Lisa, thanks so much for writing -- I always love ...Lisa, thanks so much for writing -- I always love long comments. Thank you so much for loving Graceling!

I spent my junior year abroad in Sydney and had an amazing time. Where are you? To answer your question, my UK publisher, Gollancz, is publishing the book in Australia, and last I heard, they were releasing it in "October or November." So it sounds like there's a good chance you could pick it up there before you leave -- but it won't be in hardcover, because they're publishing a trade paperback edition. (And with a really different cover, btw!) Also, Fire will be released in October 2009, and Book 3, well, umm, Book 3 is nowhere near talking about a release date yet, but I promise I"ll write at least two pages today. :o)

Thanks for writing. Good luck with your artwork, and hope you get to do some traveling while you're down under!Kristin Cashorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05560274772312684672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4228273369846378320.post-71451674332037848812008-07-16T20:55:00.000-04:002008-07-16T20:55:00.000-04:00Hi there! My sister and her boyfriend picked it up for me at a book fair of some sort (I forget what it was called) and I was really excited to read it, not only because it looked good, but because I've never read an advance copy of a book.

I was excited to find that I could actually write to you to tell you that I loved it, because I don't get to do that with other authors whose books I love. So, go you for having this blog!!

I'm an art major and I know how it is to have someone look at something I've done and tell me what they think, especially when they give constructive criticism and not just tell me that they liked it, hated it, whatever. For your book, I really can't find anything to pick on, so I'll just tell you what I liked about it:

I love your writing style and the ease of which the book is read. The character development was excellent, and the characters themselves were so real and lovable. The descriptions of places and things were so detailed and beautiful and the dialog was just awesome. All in all, it was a book that I'll read again and again.

And now a question:

I am currently studying abroad in Australia until the end of November, and I know that Graceling is released in October. Will it be released in Australia as well? It'd be great to get my hands on a hardcover copy of the book.

Well, I think that this is long enough now, so once again, great job on the book! I look forward to reading the prequel and the sequel as well! (Any idea when these will be released? :D)Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01917495543891100622noreply@blogger.com
