A Brand New Addition to the Gallery of My Favorite Objects

I was thinking the other day that it'd be nice to live on the planet where the kingdoms of Attolia, Sounis, and Eddis are. After all, that planet has Gen, Irene, Helen, Sophos, Costis, the magus, and some chill-inducing gods, which makes it a damn awesome planet.

At the end of my deliberations, though, I decided I like our own planet best, and here's why: we have Megan Whalen Turner.

Take that, Sounis! *thbbbbttt*

You are not going to be disappointed by this book.

(For the uninitiated: read The Thief first. And for those in need of gifts for a book lover: A Conspiracy of Kings doesn't come out until April 2010, but The Thief, The Queen of Attolia, and The King of Attolia are all out in paperback.)

(Also -- I don't know if any of my readers will have read A Conspiracy of Kings already, but just in case any have, here's a warning for others to tread carefully through the comments to this post, because there may be Attolia spoilers. Commenters, please be kind and use spoiler warnings!)

I think my head just exploded out of sheer jealousy.

ACK!!! I am so jealous that you are holding and have READ that book already!! I've been reading those books since I was in fourth grade. As a first year grad student - those books have grown up with me and I cannot wait for the next installment!!

So I'm way out of line with those books. I haven't read ONE of them yet... mmmm but Christmas is right around the corner, and they would make great stocking stuffers...

Nice nail polish Kristin! And I agree with Jen about the sticky notes, pretty cute. :)

Ooh, sounds interesting. I have actually wanted to read them but I've forgotten all about it, well I guess I've got more book to put on my "Read ASAP" list...lol. I love you finger nail polish(es), they appear to be different colors? Anyways...thanks for recommending or should I say reminding me of the book(s)!

I'm green with envy! My students and I love The Queen's Thief series and we're itching to read "Conspiracy" as soon as we can get our hands on it.

I'm so jealous! I wish I had an ARC too! Three more months to go before I can get my own copy.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-----

...

First, I am mad at you Kristin because you are tantalizing me with something that will not come out until March.

Second, I am overjoyed at the fact that A Conspiracy of Kings actually has a date for when it's coming out, because I can look forward to it. Unfortunately, I can't ask for it for Christmas. DARN.

P.S. And no, I would never really be mad at you because you are awesomeee!

Hmmm... I have actually never heard of these books before... They sound good though! Now, the question is, do I read the first three now, or wait so I don't have to wait in agony for the 4th? ;)

Not fair Kristin. Not fair you get books waaaayyyy before. ;) (well, I guess it is when you think of how painful it can be to write sometimes. ;) )

I hope you know though that everyone who reads this blog will now except you to send us copies of your books before they are released once we're successful authors. ;) Haha.

I'm so very jealous - I LOVED the series and can't WAIT for April!

Have I told you thanks yet for all the fabulous books you've introduced us too? Thanks. A lot. I really mean it! :-)

Oh, and it's me, Andrew's Mommom. I'm on my husband's computer.

I'm trying very, very hard right now to remember that jealousy is a very unbecoming trait....

I tried. It's no use. I'm so jealous.

But I do have to say how much I love having an actual list of unpublished books I can't wait to read, it's fun to anticipate. Right now I have that book, Hunger games 3 (August 24th people!!!), the next Wheel of Time book (next fall?), the last Beka Cooper book (love these!) and Bitterblue, which doesn't have a date yet, but is nevertheless on my list. No pressure though. I just like having it there on my list in anticipation :)

Hey everyone,

Andrea, I actually couldn’t find it in my copies since it only sais „Typography by Christopher Stengel” (who, by the way, also designed the awesome cover of “Shiver”). But according to my Google research the covers of the Attolia books were designed by an artist called Vince Natale (www.vincenatale.com).

I can’t wait for the fourth one either, but I love that I have to. I think I have seven books that are part of a series on my tbr-list for 2010 and that’s like waiting for Christmas as a child, only multiplied by seven! Yay! Also: Better patient than sorry…

Greetings from Germany! - Linda

I report abuse! That was rather rude of you, whoever you may be. Linda, It's very nice that someone in this world has the patience to wait for books. I, for one, am not that type of person and cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of A Conspiracy of Kings! Kristin, do you think you will ever get around to writing a sequel for Fire? Oh, I also love your nail polish:P The sticky notes are still my favorite though...How are you? How are the twins?

Anonymous, I want you to know that your words have no power here. You are inconsequential.

Linda, many thanks for your online research snoopery! That guy has mad skills!

I'd love to have time to read for pleasure, but my Uni course has made sure that spare time is a thing reserved only for sleep!! These books sound so intriguing, I'm going to have to check them out, maybe buy them and add them to my 'to read' list which seems to be growing longer and longer.

Ah well, back to my next course book: 'Emma'...
